DETECTIVES have launched a hunt for two men who attacked a Bury teenager with an iron bar, leaving him unconscious.
The attack left the 17-year-old victim, who is Asian, needing 12 staples to a head wound.
Police say the teenager was walking home through a car park in Cecil Street, Bury, when a grey Rover 200 approached him.
Detective Sergeant Duncan Heywood of Bury police said: "Two Asian males got out and started to attack him with an 18-inch metal bar.
"They struck him several times on the head and he was knocked to the ground. One of them also cut him on the left leg with what was possibly a knife."
Following the attack, the teenager was unconscious. He later managed to stagger home before being taken to hospital.
He was treated at Fairfield General Hospital and detained overnight for observation.
Police are anxious to talk to anyone who witnessed the attack at 8.30pm on Saturday (Nov 17).
Anyone with information should call Bury CID on 856 8150.
