TWO environmental projects are making others "green" with envy after scooping awards in the Greening Greater Manchester Awards event.
The Bury Local Nature Reserve project was presented with a highly commended award for its work in establishing two designated local nature reserves in the borough and a highly commended award in the Environmental Education category was presented to the Barn Countryside Centre, which is situated in Philips Park, Whitefield.
Managed by the Lancashire Wildlife Trust, the Bury Local Nature Reserve project was praised for its work with the community in the People and Places category which acknowledged schemes that created an improved environment for people to enjoy for leisure or education.
It has worked closely with Bury Council and involved local schools in practical action days to raise the profile of the nature reserves.
The Barn Countryside Centre, which is managed by the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers, was also rewarded for its work with school children and has a special education centre for school visits.
