A CHILDREN'S park in Radcliffe resembled a bottle recycling centre after suffering the after-effects of teenage boozers!
This was the sight that greeted residents living next to Bolton Road Park after a weekend that saw gangs of drunken teenagers running amok.
"They ripped out conifers and plants and knocked down our fences," said Mr Rodney Launders (56), of Osborne Walk.
The youngsters congregate in the park where they are said to drink vodka and strong beer before going on the rampage. They leave behind their glass bottles, but sometimes return the following night and smash them. This was the case on Sunday (Nov 18), as a pile of shattered glass in another part of the park testifies.
"You give them somewhere to congregate and they wreck the blasted place," said Mr Launders. "This is the worst I've ever seen it.
"Little children use this park and I dread to think what could happen to them with all the broken glass lying around. It's the same for people that walk their dogs here. There are even shards of glass on the football field that could cause a nasty accident."
The drinkers come prepared. Along with cases of Carling and Stella lager and "Drifter" vodka drinks, they bring plastic cups and cartons of orange juice to mix with their vodka.
"I'd like to know who is supplying them with their booze," said Mr Launders.
