COUNCILLORS in Pendle will be asked to approve two donations totalling £1,000 from the subscriptions and donations budget.
Applications for cash were made by Brierfield YASS (Young Asylum Seekers) and the Pendle YELP group.
The young asylum seekers support group, which meets in Brierfield Youth and Community Centre, asked for £250 to replace their broken table tennis table, which has collapsed.
Yelp, which seeks to re-home dogs collected by the council's dog wardens and the police, carries out fundraising events but is still in need of the £750 grant proposed to enable it to continue.
The council is responsible for the cost of keeping the dogs for the first seven days and euthanasia costs but Yelp pays the additional costs of keeping them for longer until a home can be found for them.
Members of the executive will be asked to approve the donations at a meeting tonight.
