YOUNG tennis stars in South Ribble have received ace new shoes to help their fancy footwork after they swept the board in a national competition.
Some 3,000 teams took part in the National Junior Club League contest organised by the Lawn Tennis Association.
And the South Ribble Tennis Centre teams successfully beat off the opposition at county, regional and inter-regional level to make it through to the finals.
South Ribble's young players did spectacularly well --
The under 13 and under 17 teams won their events and the under 15 team came runner-up.
The under 13s event proved a real nail-biter, as it went to the last doubles match and the very last tie break of those doubles. The team lost the first set 6-0, won the second set and then won the third in a tie break in the last match as hundreds of spectators looked on.
As well as trophies to add to the centre's ever-growing collection, the ace young players also received new tennis shoes.
