I LIVE in Bamber Bridge and like to go for a walk to get my circulation going.

For some years I have walked along Station Road, cut down Brownedge Road, Todd Lane South, on to Lostock Lane and then back on to Station Road.

However, in the past year or so I have found that trying to cross the road at the big roundabout near to public house is like playing Russian roulette, having to doge traffic approaching from three lanes and then you are only half way across.

It is especially perilous around 5.30pm with all the rush hour traffic out in force.

Are there any plans to cater for pedestrians?

Could a pelican crossing not be installed about 100 yards north of the roundabout, or do pedestrians count for nothing because they don't pay road tax?

I am not the only one who walks along this part of Lostock Lane. For instance, I have seen many shoppers coming from the nearby supermarket on foot, as well as people walking from work in the early morning.

Not everyone has a car, or wants to drive everywhere!
