STAND manager Nick Davis accepts that his striker Micky Bartholomew might move on - but doesn't want to lose him.
Bacup have placed seven days on the former Colne Dynamoes striker. "I would be sad to lose him but we have Lee Wilkinson and Chris Denham up front and I can understand that Micky doesn't want to sit on the bench every game," said Davis. "I wish I could play everybody but I have to do what is best for the club.
"I'm not surprised that clubs are showing an interest in him. I think he will walk into most teams in this division."
Batholomew has scored nine for Stand this season but the NWCL Division Two leaders have had plenty of others chipping in as they have amassed 53 league goals this season.
And tomorrow they visit the side who has conceded the most, Oldham Town have let in 53.
While some might feel sorry for Oldham, Davis doesn't.
"We will treat it like any other game. They lost their manager last week and have currently got their secretary in charge so with a new face at the helm they might step up a gear.
"But we will do just the same as always." The Ewood Bridge side have only lost one league encounter all season - to Nelson - and have defeated nearest rivals Formby twice already.
"Plus Leek were climbing up the table and they lost midweek. I always knew we would be there or thereabouts but never eight points clear with a game in hand.
"But we will be taking nothing for granted."
Karl Brown, who played in the Manchester United youth team with David Beckham, Paul Scholes and the like, has joined NWCL Division One side Ramsbottom from Stand. STAND manager Nick Davis accepts that his striker Micky Bartholomew might move on - but doesn't want to lose him.
