IF you're feeling flush with a few thousand pounds spare you can snap up a freehold toilet block, offered with vacant possession, in a popular area of Leyland!

Around half a dozen developers have already eyed up a 'bog standard' opportunity in Leyland town centre.

The former public conveniences at Chapel Brow are being auctioned off by South Ribble Borough Council on Wednesday, December 5.

Council planning chiefs have received enquiries about the toilets which are expected to fetch between £5,000 and £8,000 at the auction.

Council planning chiefs say they are open to suggestions about the future use of the facility, within reason.

A spokesman for the auctioneers, Pugh and Company, based in Lockside Road, Preston, said they had never sold a toilet in Preston or South Ribble before, although a couple had been offered in Manchester earlier this year.

The property is a detached, single storey, brick building with a pitched slate roof and offers 300 square feet space.

Anyone interested in viewing the property prior to the auction at the Atlantic Suite in Terminal Two of Manchester Airport on Wednesday, December 5, from 2.30pm, should call 01772 722444.

Meanwhile, Domino's Pizza has announced plans to open a store behind the toilets by April 2002. The takeaway is set to commence shop fitting at the Churchill Way premise in the next few weeks.
