IN an incredible match Leyland Barracudas took fourth place in the ASC Speedo Junior Inter-League Swimming Competition Northern regional final in Lincoln.
Leyland had to make fourth place or above in order to qualify for the national finals but faced tough competition from the likes of City of Liverpool.
But a superb all round team performance saw Leyland finish second in the points table.
Final points were: City of Liverpool first with 145, Hull second with 144, Lincoln third on 141 and Leyland fourth with 135 with Tynemouth not going through with 79.
This was the closest finish in memory with only ten points separating the first four places. Leyland now go through to the national finals in Liverpool, a feat never before achieved in the 26 year history of Leyland Barracudas.
