PUPILS from Thornton's Millfield High School have been going potty over Harry!
A group of 140 year seven pupils from the Belvedere Road school enjoyed a Friday morning screening of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone at Blackpool's Odeon.
English teacher Melissa Humphries who organised the trip said: "It was absolutely brilliant. The kids really enjoyed themselves and so did the teachers.
"It's quite unusual to take the children to the cinema for English, it's usually the theatre. It may happen again but I think the Harry Potter phenomenon is quite a one-off."
For those that could not go to the Odeon, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone will soon be available in the classroom thanks to pupil power.
Miss Humphries said a sponsored spellathon by students has raised more than £600 which will be used to buy copies of the smash-hit story. It is hoped pupils will be using the books in lessons before Christmas, she said.
Millfield was one of several schools across the Fylde invited to a series of Potter premieres at the Odeon this week.
Odeon spokeswoman Lynda Page said pupils were more than happy to attend to the daily screenings.
She said: "It's been fantastic -- we have had loads of response. The screenings have been absolutely packed."
The Harry Potter screenings have been the most popular of the Odeon's school premieres, she added.
