YET again we have a pro-hunting person saying hunting with dogs to kill a fox is humane and to make it worse, Janet Kirkham (Letters, November 19) states that fox hunting is a respectable pastime.
She is entitled to her opinion, but chasing a fox with hounds and then watching it being torn limb from limb while it is still alive seems to me to be a despicable pastime, not a respectable one.
I saw the result of a fox hunt many years ago in Surrey, where the fox was screaming in pain as it was torn to pieces and the fox died slowly, not, as Ms Kirkham stated, in a humane way.
Yes, the Government has more important things to occupy them today, but I for one will be glad to see the back of foxhunting with hounds as soon as possible.
