A 24-year-old man has been sent to Preston Crown Court for sentence after pleading guilty to a doorstep con on a 68-year-old Accringtom man.
Blackburn magistrates heard that George Johnston and another man called at a house in Countess Street, Accrington, and told the householder they were from Trading Standards.
They asked whether the man had any trouble with bogus builders and then persuaded him to go to the bank and withdraw £400.
Neil Standage, prosecuting, said Johnston and the other man indicated they were going to make notes of the serial numbers on the bank notes.
"The money was handed over to the other man who then drove the victim back to Countess Street.
Johnston, of Haslingden Road, Blackburn, was still in the house with the man when police arrived but the other man had driven off.
