SIX East Lancashire youngsters scooped prizes for themselves and their schools after coming out top of a Chemistry at Work quiz at Clayton Park Conference and Learning Centre, Clayton-le-Moors.
Over 600 children entered the quiz, formed part of a packed programme of events which included demonstrations by a number of organisations, including BNFL, Michelin Tyre Company and the University of Central Lancashire. There were demonstrations on the chemistry used in finger printing, tyre manufacture and forensic analysis.
The event was organised by East Lancashire Education Business Partnership and the quiz winners were: Sam Whitaker, Altham CE ; Charlotte Baldwin, Sacred Heart, Accrington; Hassan Ali, St Thomas, Blackburn; Rachael Ward, St Mary's, Bacup; Sean Kinsella, St Peter's RC Primary, Newchurch; and Matthew Thornley, St Joseph's, Barnoldswick.
