SCINTILLATING attacking play by the backs took King Edward and Queen Mary Under-12s to a comprehensive victory in their first local derby against Arnold School.
Lytham owed much to powerful centre Robert Whittam and to scrum half Michael Cooper for an early lead. The power of James Chester, Charlie Blagborough and Toby Weighman -- who grabbed two tries -- wore down the visitors.
In the second half Lytham ran the game, with Deklan Croston and Gregor Aitken prominent. Sparkling running and fine defence kept Arnold on the back foot as Lytham recorded a 41-0 win.
Coach Andy Weston praised his team's commitment. "This was our best performance so far," he said, "but we still need to improve our forward play for tough games ahead against Skipton and Crosby.
