PARADISE found! No papers, no television, no Radio Lancashire, so no Jim Bowen and Sally Naden.
A place where the sun shines from morning to night, where pensioners can stop taking a lot of their tablets and walk for miles without getting tired.
A place where the locals are friendly to the English, where you can rent an apartment for £25 a week and a villa for £35 a week, where the cost of living is the same as here.
A place where you can be in three hours -- about the same time it sometimes takes to see a doctor in the surgery.
Where did we find paradise? It was a village in Corfu called Roda.
But to anyone thinking of trying living in paradise, remember there is no dole and no social security -- just healthy living and fishing in the sea from morning until night.
One English emigrant, who has been there three years, never appeared to catch anything. When I asked why he bothered, he replied: "I just like listening to the water coming in."
