REGARDING Neil Farrar's remarks about the project to connect homes in Whitebirk, Blackburn, to the Internet (Letters, November 14), at no time did I mention the problem concerning NTL. Indeed, this was not made known to me as a councillor for part of the area.
I only learned of the problem after being contacted by the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.
My question was concerning the fact that the project was not on scheduled and, as the report by the Executive Members for Regeneration to the Council Forum on November 1 clearly said, it was.
I wanted to know why we were not being given the true picture.
As for the drainage problems in Darwen, they have been around since the last century and, as Darwen, along with Blackburn, has grown considerably since then, it just goes to show that the infrastructure has not kept pace with modern life.
Regarding the area committees advocated by the Liberal Democrats, they would give people the chance to make their part of the community a better place to live.
Surely, Mr Farrar cannot be against that.
If he looked closely at how the council is now run by a gang of eight, he would realise that the rest of the council can only raise issues when information is presented to us.
If the information is not correct, we need to know why, because we have a responsibility to the people we represent.
And as for 'Lib Dem Land,' I like it. It is a place where free-thinking people can express themselves, unlike 'Lab Land' and 'Con Land.'
COUN Charles Mills, Romney Walk, Blackburn.
