ROAD safety campaigner Anne Ravenhill believes she may have made a breakthrough in her drive for motorway tuition for new drivers.
For 10 years she has been hammering home the message in her Learn2Live campaign.
Mrs Ravenhill of Brunshaw, Burnley, said: "When I first approached the Driving Standards Agency in 1991 I was told their view was that motorway driving can be learned on dual carriageways.
"I have done everything in my power to convince them this is not possible and now I firmly believe I have convinced them."
"The chief executive Gary Austin has now told me that he agreed in principal with all new drivers undergoing some form of motorway tuition.
"Getting this sort of comment from the chief executive is a major breakthrough in my campaign."
Support for her Learn to Live campaign has been growing with more than 100 MPs supporting her call for motorway training for newly qualified drivers.
