PLANS have now been submitted to Burnley Council to turn a disused listed building into a community support centre.
Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale Council for Voluntary Services along with several local groups will transformation the three-storey building linked to Burnley Lane Baptist Church, in Colne Road.
The group received a grant of £220,000 from the Government's capital modernisation fund to pay for the work -- the only award in Lancashire and the second largest grant allocated in the North West.
The house is attached to the church is at the corner of Colne Road and Hebrew Road.
The plans are for the building to become a community support centre with office space, counselling rooms and meeting rooms
The partners involved are the church, Relate, who deal with marriage guidance counselling; CRUSE, who provide bereavement support counselling; Home Start volunteers who help young families with children under five; Daneshouse and Stoneyholme Community Development Trust, who work with local residents; Parents in Pain, an organisation which supports families which have had to deal with drug tragedies, Lancashire Family Mediation Services and the Women's Domestic Violence Helpline.
