A Christmas fair in support of CRY -- Cardiac Risk in the Young -- will be held on Saturday at the United Reformed Church on Bolton Road.
Attractions will include gift stalls, a tombola, face painting, hair braiding, a cake stall and Santa will also be in his grotto (admission is £1.) There will also be a special box where letters to Father Christmas can be posted.
The event runs from 11am to 2pm and admission is free. Cash raised will go towards the Neil Wickers and David Staff Memorial Fund.
Bill and Irene Wickers of Cyprus Street and Susan and Granville Staff of Carus Avenue, Hoddlesden started raising funds and awareness about heart problems after losing their sons in similar circumstances.
The two young men died from heart attacks. Neil, 31, a financial adviser of St Alban's Road collapsed at the Albion Mill, Blackburn in 1996 and former Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School pupil David, 17, died in December 1994 after collapsing near the end of a 10k road race at Clitheroe.
The families have raised £13,000 which has helped provide a mobile ECG unit.
