SEVEN weddings and one big hoe-down are the perfect antidote for a wet and windy winter night. Sam Kane slipped easily into Howard Keel's famous boots in his first leading role as head brother Adam in Seven Brides For Seven Brothers at Blackpool Grand Theatre on Monday with a voice as rich as molasses and a fine physique. And they are big boots to fill.
Former Phantom star Shona Lindsay is magnificent as his blushing new bride Milly who finds herself with six strapping brothers-in-law to deal with.
But this is a company triumph with every cast member giving their all, despite the inevitable last minute cast changes due to winter illness.
The well-loved tale of seven mountain boys and seven country girls finding love among the hay bales has a feelgood factor of ten and can't fail to bring a little sunshine before Christmas.
Seven Brides For Seven Brothers from UK Productions runs until Saturday (December 1). Call the box office on 290190 for tickets and details.
