ROBBIE the Bobby's collar is not being felt.

Bury FC's official website claims the club's mascot has been officially charged by Bury police for abusing the fourth official during the Shakers' match at Bristol City.

Robbie, alias Jonathan Pollard, was given the red card during the game for mooning at the home fans and, according to match officials, for being stupid.

However, PC Julian Peach, Bury's deputy football intelligence officer, dismissed any suggestions that the police were taking action against Robbie.

He said: "What happened at Bristol City is very much a Football League matter and there has not been any formal complaint about his actions against Cardiff City's mascot a week earlier."

While Robbie the Bobby is making a name for himself throughout the world for his off-the-field antics, Football League chiefs have been forced to draw up tough new rules to control the madcap antics of all team mascots. Mooning is now banned and so is attacking other mascots. Jonathan (26) admits on Bury FC's website that he will quit the mascot game for good if he is forced to stop clowning around.
