THE sewer system in the borough will be flowing under a new management next week.
The network will cease to be the responsibility of Bury Council on Monday (Dec 3) when it is transferred to United Utilities in what is expected to be a seamless changeover.
United Utilities Network Operations team, based at Rochdale Wastewater Treatment Works, will then control all operations, including the supervision of sewers on new developments, subject to Adoption Agreements.
Any problems on or caused by the public sewerage system should be reported directly to United Utilities Service Enquiries on 08457-462200. Alternatively write to United Utilities Water Ltd., Bury and Rossendale Sewerage Office, Rochdale Wastewater Treatment Works, Roch Valley Way, Rochdale, OL11 4QH.
* The changes will only affect the public sewerage system, and not highway drainage.
Anyone with problems relating to highway drainage should continue to contact Bury Council on 0161-253-5842 during office hours or on 0161-253-6606 at other times.
