LEIGH Centurions will march into the new season on Sunday looking ahead, not back.
Last season's slip-ups in the play-offs and their failure to reach the NFP Grand Final have been quickly forgotten by Paul Terzis' newly-assembled squad on the eve of a fresh campaign.
The Centurions kick-off with a home game against Barrow Border Raiders looking no further ahead than this weekend.
Leigh's catchphrase for the season is: 'Focus on the moment' - looking no further ahead than the next game in a marathon programme.
"At the end of the day we know that the ultimate prize is winning the Grand Final. But our approach will be just to take it one game at a time," reveals head coach Terzis.
"Last season we set ourselves little goals of winning blocks of four or five games at a time. Up to a point that approach was successful but with this season being such a long one, I don't want the players distracted by what may be down the track. I just want us to focus on each game as it comes up.
"If we do that I'm confident that we'll be up there again when the big issues are decided next September."
Leigh are relishing the new challenges that lie ahead with a revamped squad and a clutch of off-season signings.
The Centurions have had one of the largest turnovers of all the major NFP contenders but Terzis felt it had to be done.
"While we've kept the core group that have been with the club for a couple of years, I've introduced players in the areas I felt we needed to improve on and that will take us up to another level. New blood injects new enthusiasm and gives us new objectives," he says.
His three major signings are Jon Roper, Paul Rowley and Vila Matautia and Terzis is expecting big things from the Super League trio.
"There's certainly some experience with those players and they will help to bring the younger players along," he says. Roper and Rowley will play on Sunday but Matautia will not figure until after Christmas as he takes a short break.
