PUPILS at a Leigh school will invite their teachers to come out and play every day in future!
Playtime will now mean something much more at Newton Westpark Junior and Infants' School thanks to a revolutionary intitiative.
The Leigh Education Action Zone school has devised social activity time - 15 minutes of afternoon games when children will play alongside their teachers.
They will take part in games, from skipping to bouncing balls.
Head teacher Lynn Carroll said: "We expect all our teachers wil be very fit by Christmas!
"It gives the children structured physical play activities and helps them to acquire interpersonal skills in play situations and to develop a knowledge of a variety of enjoyable, non-competitive children's games.
"There is also the chance to interact with peers and adults outside the climate of academic achievement and to provide a time-out from structured lessons."
