WHAT a hectic week in the transfer market with first, Robbie Fowler making the move from Liverpool to Leeds in a deal which shocked the world of football.
And now my good friend Brett Ormerod appears to be on the verge of a £1.5 million move to Southampton.
I, personally, would love to see Brett in the Premiership because his determination to succeed at the very highest level is a lesson to us all.
So many young players turn their back on the game after being rejected, it's frightening, but Brett has proved just what can be achieved if you really put your mind to it.
I know he was gutted when he got released by Blackburn at the start of his career.
But instead of feeling sorry for himself, he quickly got straight back into the saddle and set about rebuilding his career in non-League football with Accrington Stanley.
It wasn't long before Blackpool then took notice of his talents and within a year he was back in the professional game at Bloomfield Road.
Since then, he's shown just what a good player he is by scoring a raft of goals in the lower leagues, despite suffering a badly broken leg 18 months ago.
So if anyone now deserves to make it at the top, then it's him because I believe he has the ability to score goals at the highest level.
And not only that, it would also double the number of Great Harwooders in the top flight overnight!!
As for Robbie's move to Elland Road, I have to say it's a shame we just missed out on signing him ourselves.
I think he's a great striker -- undoubtedly one of the best in England -- and had he arrived at Ewood it would have given everyone a massive boost.
Having said that, I also think moving to Leeds could turn out to be a great move for him.
They are starting to emerge as serious title contenders under David O'Leary and with Robbie now amongst their ranks, they can boast a phenomenal strikeforce, whatever the various permutations.
As for us, it was great to book our place in the Worthington Cup quarter finals on Wednesday night.
Okay, our performance against City might not have been one of our best but just remember the last time we met when we played them off the park and lost 4-1!
So it was more about the result than the performance in midweek and hopefully that went some way to making up for what happened at Ewood 18 months ago when they celebrated promotion at our expense.
Now it's Arsenal in the next round in what promises to be a real rip-roaring encounter.
But we showed at Highbury earlier this season that we can go into that with nothing to fear.
Have a good week!
