NADIA BUTLER has been told not to think about going back to school until doctors are sure about the long-term effects on her eye after she was struck with a brick.
The 10-year-old Bacup's St Mary's RC pupil was hoping to be given the all-clear to return to school next week, but when she saw a doctor at Rossendale Hospital he said she should not even think about it yet.
Nadia lives with her gran Norah Butler at Birch Street, Bacup.
She had been in the town centre on November 18 when a brick was thrown which hit her on the side of her face and she ended up in Burnley General Hospital for a week while blood and clots were drained from her right eye.
Norah said: "We were hoping he was going to say she could go back to school next week but she has been told not to think about it and to attend Rossendale Hospital next week for a check-up with the consultant."
Police arrested four youths under 16 and from Bacup, in connection with the incident.
One has been released without charge and three are on police bail pending inquiries.
