MR B. Lansdale (Your Letters, Nov 2) condemns us "doves of peace" because he wants retaliation for the deaths of innocent Americans.

He goes to great lengths to show that he believes that all life is equal. But obviously innocent Afghans don't count in his equation.

He reminds us that people died in two world wars to protect our democracies but he complains bitterly when we use our democratic right to demonstrate.

Quite frankly, Mr Lansdale's attempt to claim the moral high ground while his precious Allied forces use B52s, "Daisy Cutters" and cluster bombs to devastate one of the poorest countries in the world, would be laughable if it was not truly nauseating.
