LEYLAND WARRIORS U14s 16 WATERHEAD 6
THE Warriors defied the awful wet and windy conditions to put on an impressive performance and get their season back on track. Both sides attacked the game aggressively from the start, but it was Leyland's superior handling control and dogged defence that ultimately proved decisive.
Playing bright attacking rugby, the Warriors shrugged off the adverse weather and kept their opponents on the back foot for long periods of the game. Martin Bishop, Michael Weardon and Mark Quinn posted the tries with all three being top quality efforts. Phil Campbell added the conversions.
LEIGH EAST U16s 64 LEYLAND WARRIORS 0
LEYLAND started the match with a man down and were soon reduced to 11 men for the rest of the first half. Poor passing and handling errors let the home side take a commanding lead. Despite some better play in the second half Warriors were unable to break through the home side's solid defence. Man of the Match was Jamie Jackson. Runner up and top tackler went to Andrew Rhodes.
HALTON HORNETS U18s 37 LEYLAND WARRIORS 14
WARRIORS visited Halton and played most of the game with two players short. Warriors displayed great determination and tackled superbly to keep up and battled to the end and all deserved to be Man of the Match. Try scorers were Daniel Lofthouse and Anthony Hughes.
