A SAFETY conscious company is helping to make the lives better of people with learning disabilities in the North West.
United Utilities, the region's main water and electricity distribution company, recently gave £4,000 to Mencap raised by a safety at work campaign.
The learning disability charity will put the money towards funding initiatives such as a self help project by a Mencap North West community support team.
So far the safety scheme has raised £14,300 for the charity. Every time an employee has time off their bosses promise to donate money.
Roger Parrott, event co-ordinator said: "At the end of each quarter, we compare working days lost through accidents to last year.
"If the figure reduces, we pay Mencap £50 for every day saved."
