AN ATTACKER bit a man on the face in an incident in Accrington Road, Burnley.
The 40-year-old victim was also punched in the mouth with a blow that loosened his teeth.
The incident happened at 5pm on Friday as the man left a chemist's shop.
He spoke to a young woman standing outside and was then approached by a man who became threatening and argumentative.
Det Sgt Steve Mounsey said that, fearing for his safety, the man grabbed him and tried to restrain him.
When he let go he was bitten on the face and punched in the mouth. He went to hospital for treatment to a cut, bruising and loosened teeth.
The offender is described as white, in his early 30s, 5ft 9ins tall, of medium build and with blond short hair.
