YOUNG presenters from the radio station at Ivy Bank High School, Burnley, have formed a unique partnership with Leisure in Burnley to present Friday night disco parties at the Thompson Centre.
The student presenters are now booked up to Christmas and are taking bookings for the new year.
The idea was developed by Leisure in Burnley programme and events manager Stewart Ingham who suggested they should the children's disco parties each Friday at the Thompson centre from 7-9pm.
Michael Watson, the school's development officer and manager of the school's radio station, suggested the idea to the ten presenters.
He said; "Everyone was very excited by the prospect of performing in front of a live audience and organising party activities for the children who are aged between five and 12."
he added: "this is a superb scheme and will have beneficial spin-offs, educational as well as future career prospects.
"It will help build their confidence, improve their individual planning and organisational skills plus teamworking techniques with working with young children."
He said their had been positive feedback from staff, parents and children following the first party with presenters Rachel Ford and Charlotte Binns.
