AGE Concern Hyndburn has been given a high-tech boost.
The Whalley Road, Accrington based charity has been awarded a PC and a year's free access to the internet, as part of a scheme run by BT, who are aiming to give £1 million of computer equipment to community groups across the North West.
The Hyndburn charity hopes to use the internet as a one-stop information-shop, and to train people over 50 to use e-mail.
Sandra Ratcliffe, coordinator for Age Concern's Aging Well scheme, said: "We are absolutely delighted with our BT award. The use of a PC will give the over 50s the chance to use the internet, keep in contact with family and friends, and generally have a greater degree of independence than ever before."
