THE anguished brother of one of the group arrested in Greece while 'plane spotting' has launched a T-shirt campaign to help win his freedom.
Steven Jenkins, of Southwood Drive, Baxenden, was horrified to learn his brother Andrew was among a group arrested by Greek authorities for allegedly spying on November 8. His worried family are still waiting for news.
But when a national newspaper offered to bear the burden and fly the family out to Greece, Steven thought he had a chance to help Andrew, from York, in person - until he learned he was unable to get a temporary passport.
Meanwhile Steven is keeping his fingers crossed, hoping his sisters Linda and Adele will bring back good news.
He has started a 'Not Guilty' campaign, appearing on the television news, and is even having special T-shirts printed for family and friends to wear.
Steven, who runs Baxenden Packing Case Co., said: " My wife, Stella, and I were really up for it. We wanted to be out there, maybe to bring him back.
"But I haven't got a passport, and I can't get one now until Wednesday. It's sickening, I'm having to be left behind."
Andrew is due to go to trial on Tuesday, and worried brother Steven was hoping to fly out and bring him home afterwards -- if all went well. Now he will be travelling to Liverpool to queue for a passport while his family take to the air.
"I don't have a passport because basically I don't go abroad. The last time I needed one was 10 years ago, when I went to Spain. But I got a temporary one.
"So I'm going to Liverpool to join the huge queue I've heard people talking about."
He added: "My sisters flew out on Saturday. They went shopping and bought him some clothes and food, and they're taking him some money. "He will want anything from England, because of the conditions and food they have been given over there - anything to comfort them, and to give them something different."
