NELSON were unable to turn possession into goals against a spirited Stone Dominoes in the NWCL Division Two clash at Victoria Park.
The Blues were rocked by a goal after six minutes when Ben Biddulph broke clear and poked the ball past the advancing Mark Canning to give Stone the lead.
John Bailey's side fought back and Jonathan Irvine grabbed the equaliser on 26 minutes when he turned in Lee Coldridge's low cross at the near post.
When Coldridge was brought down in the penalty area after 35 minutes Nelson's claims for a penalty were ignored by the referee.
And then the Blues failure to defend a corner kick cost them dearly after 48 minutes when Lee Lainton headed home to put Stone 2-1 in front.
Dominoes then kept out wave after wave of Nelson attacks and, as time ran out, so did Nelson's ideas and the Blues once again saw vital points slip away.
NELSON...1 STONE DOMINOES...2
