STANLEY go into tomorrow night's FA Trophy second round replay confident that they can seal a place in the next stage against UniBond Premier high-fliers Altrincham.

Reds boss John Coleman was disappointed at conceding an early goal when Ian Craney fired home in the 24th minute but was pleased with the character of his side to battle back.

"The referee gave a goal kick but the referee overruled for a foul and they scored for the free kick so we were disappointed with that," said the Stanley manager. "But you can't blame the officials as we should have defended it.

"Then we battled back. The first half was a bit scrappy, they probably had the more clear cut chances but in the second half we spent long periods in their half. We kept the ball and got at them.

"Peter Cavanagh won the man of the match but it must have been a close run thing with Jonathan Smith as he was outstanding in the backline."

Stanley got back in it with 17 minutes left of a heated game when Mark Maddox hit a cross past his own keeper to seal the replay at Moss Lane.

The only injury doubt for tomorrow's game is midfielder Dave Robinson who is struggling with a knee injury. "Steve Flitcroft played in the middle of the park for him on Saturday and did well so we are not worrying," said Coleman.

"We have played three games against Altrincham and over the three games I think we have been the better side even though they have won one and we have drawn the other two. I think eventually our lions' share of the play should pay off and hopefully it will be tomorrow night."
