SCHOOL MESSAGE: Queen's Park is a community technology college.

Our school is a hard-working and friendly community where high personal achievement and good working relationships are of paramount importance.

We subscribe to the Blackburn with Darwen mission of "Aiming high and including all". Our motto is "To be the best". We actively work with our wider community of primary schools and provide adult courses in the evening.

HISTORY LESSON: Queen's Park High School is situated in Shadsworth Road, Blackburn, sharing the site with Shadsworth Leisure Centre.

The school was formed in 1989 from the amalgamation of two former secondary schools.

In recent years the school has seen a tremendous amount of investment as a member of the Blackburn with Darwen Education Action Zone and as a specialist technology college from September 1999.

With our industrial partners we have developed an impressive range of facilities in technology and ICT, including computer aided manufacture and interactive computerised whiteboards.

NUMBER OF PUPILS: The school currently has around 700 pupils with a roughly equal split of boys and girls, representing the ethnic balance of the wider community.

WHERE THEY COME FROM: Our pupils come from the Audley and Queen's Park areas and the surrounding estates of Shadsworth and Whitebirk, though a substantial number travel from further afield.

STAR PUPILS: Many of our pupils have gone on to make their mark in the world, including working on the production of BBC's Question of Sport, managing one of the largest printing companies in the UK and being headteacher of a primary school.

£100,000 WINDFALL: If we had a further windfall we would want to further enhance our facilities in technology and science to help us prepare our young people for life and work in the challenging technological world of the 21st century.
