A DOUBLE celebration was held at the Remploy factory in Burnley to mark International Day of the Disabled.
The Mayor, Coun Jack Alston, presented Remploy's Making a Difference at work awards and handed over a cheque for £500 to Mary Cohu.
Mary works at Cheers off licence in Deerstone Road and was nominated by her manager Pauline Parkinson, who said: "Mary is teaching herself how to use a computer so that the shop's advertising can have a professional look. She makes the place happier and brighter."
Award certificates were also presented to Lawrence Duckworth, Collette Bracewell, Johnathan Charnock, Gary Shannon, peter Dillon and Virginia McGough.
Coun Alston told them: "Remploy has a respected name in the borough. This does not surprise me as quality is something that is becoming rather rare these days but which still still continues to flourish in this factory."
Coun Alston also launched the Remploy 'Positive Employment Guide' which shows employers how to benefit from skills possessed by people with disabilities.
