THE man who discovered pop star Lisa Stansfield when she was in her early teens has uncovered a sensational new singing talent, 13-year-old Trevor Craig Hodgson.
Showbusiness guru Mort Allan is convinced that schoolboy Trevor has what it takes to succeed. Trevor, born in Halifax but living in Rochdale, where Mort discovered Lisa Stansfield, won his first talent contest in 1997 on holiday in Spain. A string of similar successes over the past four years culminated in him winning the Haven Holidays Search For A Star, beating 1,500 contestants en route. That brought a £200 cheque and trophy.
It was while singing in The Fountain pub in Todmorden that Trevor caught the attention of club entertainer Terry Egan, landlord of The Swan Hotel in Bacup.
Terry contacted Mort Allen and sent him a tape of Trevor singing. The phone never stopped ringing after the boy's version of 'My Heart Will Go On' on Jim Bowen's 'Give It A Go' on BBC Radio Lancashire on Friday and Jim offered Trevor a spot on his Christmas Show.
