ACCRINGTON Stanley are set to net £25,000 if former striker Brett Ormerod wins an international cap.

The Blackpool front man was due to arrive in Southampton this morning to thrash out the final details of his £1.75million switch to the Premiership strugglers.

Stanley will get a 20 per cent sell on clause for the 25-year-old - around £350,000 less the £50,000 they already received in the original transfer deal from the Seasiders - and have a clause that if Ormerod wins an England cap, Stanley will get a further £25,000.

Premier League football will guarantee increased exposure for Ormerod and Stanley remain hopeful he can earn international recognition.

Chairman Eric Whalley is still waiting for Ormerod to put pen to paper on the deal although the forward's agents insist the fee has been agreed by the Saints and Blackpool.

"We might pay Hyndburn Council the £9,000 rent increase that they have been asking for now!" said Whalley.

One-time Rovers trainee Ormerod played at the Crown Ground in the 1996/97 season under manager Tony Greenwood before he moved for a then club-record fee of £50,000 to Blackpool.

Ormerod, who scored more than 30 goals for Stanley in his one season there, has been in awesome form this term, bagging 20 goals already.
