Clarets striker Andy Payton was due in court today to face a charge of failing to provide a breath test.
The 33-year-old Burnley FC forward, who lives in Accrington, is also accused of failing to stop after an accident, failing to report an accident and other motoring offences.
The charges relate to an alleged incident in Cemetery Road, Padiham, at 11.25pm on Sunday.
Padiham-born Payton signed schoolboy forms for Burnley while a pupil at Gawthorpe High School.
He has scored 81 goals in less than four years and helped the Clarets to win promotion to the First Division.
