ESSENTIAL sewer repair work has begun throughout Rossendale on many main roads, but traffic disruption should be kept to a minimum.
The work affects Burnley Road, Rawtenstall, Burnley Road East, Waterfoot, Newchurch Road, Stacksteads, Bacup Road, Waterfoot and Booth Road, Stacksteads.
The work involved the internal renovation of existing sewers and this will be done, where possible without digging up the road, but if the sewers are in a poor condition trenches will have to be dug and temporary lights installed.
Ferro Monk Systems Limited are carrying out the work on behalf of United Utilities.
On some occasions the connections to the sewers may have to be blocked off and people are asked to be economical with the use of water and toilets.
Work is expected to last 16 weeks.
