CHILDREN across East Lancashire found themselves in chocolate heaven when Glistens packaging factory, in Blackburn, donated 2,000 boxes of spare chocolate buttons to Children in Need.
Management at the firm, in Hill Street, Blackburn, which has just won the 2001 Manufacturers of Excellence award, decided to give away the buttons -- which were left over from a contract -- as a goodwill gesture.
They were snapped up by a host of local children's groups which pledged money to Children in Need for them.
Sales co-ordinator Avril Ashton, said: "I think the bosses were on a high after we heard we had won the award. We just thought it would be a nice thing to do. They've gone to all sorts of children's charities, women's refuges and places like that, all locally."
