CLITHEROE conceded late goals for the third successive match as their NWCL Division One title hopes took another dent at Woodley Sports last night.

Having been given the lead in the 48th minute through Jason Jones, Lee Sculpher's men looked to be on course to collect all three points and move to third in the table.

But the home side, who harbour their own title aspirations, turned the game on its head with two goals in the final 10 minutes.

"It's bitterly disappointing and hugely frustrating," said Sculpher. "It's the third game on the trot where this has happened to us and once again we looked comfortable. It seems to be a combination of over confidence and a lack of discipline.

"Players are guilty of failing to do what they should be doing. Let's just say we had a little talk about it after the game."

Despite this latest setback Sculpher has not given up hope on mounting a serious challenge for the Division One title.

"Obviously we have made it difficult for ourselves and last night's result does not help but if we can string together a run of victories I believe we could still be in with a shout."

Clitheroe's goal came after substitute Richard Fogarty, on for Chris Whittingham who injured his ankle in the first half, went on a great solo run and his shot was parried to scorer Jones.

But the home side hit level from a half cleared free kick in the 80th minute and got the winner following a long ball over the Clitheroe defence three minutes from time.
