POLICE are hunting armed thieves who attacked a security guard during a bank raid yesterday.
The robbery took place at 10.51am at the Royal Bank
of Scotland on Bridge Street, Ramsbottom.
The gang threatened staff with a firearm and the security guard was attacked by the offenders with a monkey wrench type instrument.
A quantity of cash was stolen.
The thieves, wearing balaclava masks escaped in a stolen BMW vehicle which they later abandoned on Bye Road
at Shuttleworth.
The guard is currently receiving hospital treatment, although his condition is not believed to be serious.
Police are appealing for any witnesses who have
