A 27-YEAR-OLD mum spent five days in hospital after being dragged from a taxi by her hair and hit against a wall by her partner.
Blackburn magistrates heard that Tracey Baldwin "slid down the wall" after being rammed against it by Paul Goodwin who was in a jealous rage.
The court was told that one witness, who saw Goodwin punching and kicking Miss Baldwin, said he had "totally lost it" as he shouted; "How many times have you done it you bitch? How many times have you been with him behind my back?"
Goodwin, 30, of Haslingden Road, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to wounding Miss Baldwin causing grievous bodily harm. He was made subject to a 12-month community rehabilitation order and ordered to do 100 hours community service and pay £600 compensation.
Claire Fanning, prosecuting, said that over the last 12 months the couple's relationship had deteriorated because of Goodwin's drinking. On the day of the offence he had been drinking in the town centre with friends and Miss Baldwin joined him in Pitchers Bar.
She could tell he was becoming drunk and he began to get aggressive and jealous. They moved to several other pubs before Miss Baldwin said she had to go to collect their two-year-old daughter.
Goodwin did not want to leave so Miss Baldwin said goodbye and made her way to a taxi rank.
Miss Fanning told how Goodwin had shouted at Miss Baldwin and manhandled her in the back of the taxi which eventually stopped in Hancock Street.
"He got out of the vehicle took her by the hair and dragged her, head first, out of the vehicle," said Miss Fanning.
"The witness describes how the aggrieved slid down the wall before again banging her head on the pavement.
"She says she still suffers nightmares and memory loss as a result of the incident."
Basharat Ditta, defending, said Goodwin had not intended to cause the injuries that she suffered.
"He bitterly regrets what happened on this occasion," said Mr Ditta.
