BRETT Ormerod has said he will be fit and is ready to be called up should Southampton boss Gordon Strachan include him in this weekend's squad.
Ormerod said: "It is just sinking in. All I can do is try my best, give 100 per cent and hopefully it will go for me like it did at Blackpool.
"Only time will tell how big the gap is between the Second Division and the Premiership.
"This is the best league in the world, full of international players, and that's the reason I came here.
"It is a big move, but when I came down to the stadium, I knew it was a fantastic club and worth the risk.
"When you look at the fixture list it is a bit daunting.
"To think that one minute I was preparing to play at Chesterfield, and the next I could be playing at Old Trafford."
Ormerod was looking forward to meeting up again with James Beattie.
The two players were teammates at Blackburn Rovers in their youth set-up.
"We played together in the youth cups, so I know James well," he said.
