A MAN has denied murdering an elderly garage worker in Lancashire 24 years ago.
Brian Garrity, 45, of Woodacre Road, Moor Nook, Preston, pleaded not guilty to murdering 72 year old Charles Gunn on December 2, 1977.
He also denied a second charge of robbing Mr Gunn of £233 cash in November of that year when he appeared before Preston crown court on Monday.
Mr Gunn died several weeks after a robbery at the Slyne Road garage on the A6 at Beaumont, Lancaster where he had been working as a petrol pump attendant.
Judge Peter Openshaw QC fixed a trial date for March 18 next year. Garrity was remanded in custody.
