DEMONSTRATIONS to help women avoid the hazards of the road were wheeled out at Bury car showroom Vantage.
More than 50 lady motorists attended an evening advice session on vehicle maintenance, and were given some helpful hints on security by Bury Traffic Unit police sergeant Pam Hadfield.
The importance of locking car doors whilst driving, and advice about breaking down were just some of the issues raised.
Female staff from the Vauxhall garage, based on The Rock, escorted visitors around the displays, while their male colleagues were on hand to provide refreshments. Similar events are planned in future.
General manager Ken Palmer said: "We felt it was a welcome departure from tradition to have ladies organising an event for ladies."
