Civic Trust's attempt to replace 40 trees in Stanley Park has met with great response from the public. And last week the final tree, donated by The Citizen, was planted.
A number of other trees were given by members of the public who read of the Civic Trust's appeal in this newspaper.
The 40 lime trees are replacements for trees first planted 50 years ago to mark the Festival of Britain. But a number of them had died or were in poor shape and the Civic Trust decided to replace them.
Secretary Mrs Eileen Smith said: "The response from the public and from companies has been marvellous."
