AN early goal by the Blackpool and Wyre team certainly seemed to wake up the Lytham Ladies hockey side.
They won two penalty corners and Ann Preston started a superb individual performance by converting the second with a well controlled strike.
After the break Lytham gradually started to dominate the game and Preston scored with another powerful shot from a penalty corner. Then came Preston's hat-trick after some excellent play by Gilly Cooper down the left hand side of the pitch. There was quite a bit of pressure on the Lytham defence which held firm thanks to Gemma Noon and Kerry Hunt.
Nicky Bagulay in goal for Lytham saved a penalty flick before they got their fourth goal which Heidi Whitehead scored after another good strike by Preston had rebounded off the goalkeeper's pads.
Blackpool came back strongly and Hannah Mintoe scored a good goal.

LSA took a point from a game they really should have won, when they once again established an early lead only to let it slip. David Robbins opened the scoring with a sweetly struck shot from the circle's edge, only for the University to draw level.
Ben King then put LSA in the lead but Durham levelled just after the break. Then a well worked penalty corner routine gave Tom Atkinson a deserved goal before Durham equalised again.
